Great exams, cleaning, and bedside (chairside?) manor from the two dentists and numerous support staff who have helped me at this office. Fair cash prices, though to a certain extent you get what you pay for, or so I imagine. Virtually no wait time at my appointments thus far. No issues with the bonding I had done last year. Exams and cleaning were professional and thorough, office is nice, equipment is modern. I'm guessing they truly deserve to have won Best of Chico for the last decade plus.–Signei H. Hands down the best dentist I have ever been to. I was just visiting Chico when I chipped my tooth. Doctor Nelsen was able to get me in the same day and was able to take care of me very quickly. I don't have dental insurance and doctor Nelsen as well as the dental assistant, Shawna, were both beyond wonderful making sure my needs were met financially. The work was wonderfully done and I actually cried happy tears when I left. Thank you so much to doctor Nelsen, Shawna, and everyone else at this practice for taking such good care of me. I always thought all DDS offices were basically the same. Nelsen Family Dentistry is near the hospital, and from the outside I was figuring more of the same. Then I went in and was blown away. Inside is completely updated. Everything very professional, sleek and clean. The staff nice, helpful and friendly.
What really impressed me was the technology. They took my x-rays using a futuristic machine right out of Star Trek. Instant 3D images. No biting down on painful films.
As for treatment, John is a great dentist. He fixed my broken tooth quick and painlessly. Every other time I've had a filling, I've had go back to get more grinding. Not this time...they nailed it in one shot.

The staff at Nelson Family Dentistry is absolutely wonderful! I brought my 13 month old in to get familiar with the concept of going to the dentist as well as to have his first few teeth checked out. Misty Nelson was so kind and gentle. She had a playful approach with introducing the instruments. I really appreciated the way she took the time to communicate with my son as well as with me. Her assistant Ruby was so sweet and let him pick out a few “treasures” from the treasure chest post visit. Briar, the dental hygienist is by far the most adorable and and knowledgeable hygienist around. Aside from the staff, the office is clean and all the employees were groomed and uniform. I personally enjoy coming to an office that takes pride in their appearance. We were beyond pleased with our experience at Nelson Family Dentistry. I highly recommend!–Brandi L.
